Web Summit is Coming to Vancouver!
In 2018, after nearly 19 years of perseverance and hard graft as a London PR exec, I made a choice: it was time to return to my home and native land of Vancouver, BC.
Since then, I’ve continued to serve my global clients seamlessly, joining the ranks of the early birds and coffee fiends that inhabit Pacific Standard time: 5am Zoom? No problem. Mind the fort while everyone else in GMT is sleeping? Done.
To those who have never been here, Vancouver may seem a far-flung place that falls off the end of the bucket list, or just an expensive ski and hike haven with a bit of paddleboarding thrown in.
However, the reality is that Vancouver has always had a thriving tech scene, with over 11,000 tech companies calling it home, as well as HQs for many multinationals. Each time I take the Sea Bus from the North Shore to downtown, I see another logo pop up on the skyline: Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Salesforce, and more. With a vibrant venture ecosystem, Vancouver is also a mecca for startups, supported by some great tech incubators, and a strong ecosystem of tech talent. Our bragging rights extend far beyond Hootsuite, nurturing the likes of Dapper Labs, Blockstream, Trulioo, LayerZero Labs, and Visier.
For these reasons and more, Vancouver is in a great position to host Web Summit 2025, and I can’t wait to welcome clients, colleagues, and friends to my hometown.
If you’re a startup looking to build relationships and profile at Web Summit 2025, get in touch. If you’re a journalist traveling to town looking to interview some of the hottest startups at the event, drop me a line. And if you’re a colleague traveling from EMEA or the US - bring your hiking shoes and your coffee - we start early up here in the northwest. .
